As promised, this article is a continuation from my previous one on “Phrases that stand in the way of your success 1”. These excuses are largely ignored but have killed so many dreams and aspirations.
I’m still not ready yet. When is the right time one will ever be? I will give an illustration: ask a student preparing for exams if he or she is ready and they will never agree to be until that exam has probably ended. No one is ever 100% ready. That would mean perfection and no one is. Don’t let the phrase of “I’m still not ready” hinder you from achieving your set plans. Start already and become ready in your process of doing.
I dislike doing that. Yea yea, we have all been at this point. I mean, some of us do not like washing the dishes but news flash: we all have to because eating is highly necessary. You do not like waking up early, you have to start liking it or you will sleep your life away. You can only become successful when you get used to doing the stuff you do not like.
It is not yet good enough. This phrase is the wife of “I’m still not ready”. Do not let this “phrasal couple” hinder you from your dreams. People are scared to death of releasing their input or ideas believing that it is not yet good enough. Please, when will it ever be? It is better to release it than to hide it and no one ever gets to see it. So, go on and release that project and be open to constructive criticism and feedback so you can correct any areas of weakness found.
What will people say? They will always talk. So what? People must talk and the sooner you get that in your head, the better you will be. “I want to go back to school, but if I do, people will laugh at me- my age and all”, “I love hair styling and I want to take classes on that, but people will insult me”. Well, even if you do not, people will still talk. So, go back to school and take the classes! You will never lose the experience.
These phrases should be avoided in our vocabulary at all cost. Make a decision today to try harder and not let them be limiting factors as you pursue your dreams and attain the height that you desire.
