After marrying out 750 couples across the State in April, 2014, the committee on Mass Wedding in Gombe State today announced it had commenced screening of 3,000 intended couples for the second batch of the exercise.
The Publicity Secretary of the Committee and Senior District Head of Gombe State, Alhaji Abdulkadir Abubakar disclose this in interview with the News Agency in Gombe. He started that participants will go through screening for pregnancy, HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis, among other cases.
He also commended the State Government for introducing the programme, which is meant to help the less privileged to get married.
He added that successful applicants would be provided with dowry, foodstuff, clothing, furniture and kitchen utensils before marriage.
