Beware of ‘Power Mongers’ Who Wants Dokubo’s Job, Niger Delta Group Urges Buhari

A group, The Niger Delta Frontier Group has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to be careful of power seekers who want to take over the leadership of the Presidential Amnesty Office through the back door.

The group in a statement by its National Coordinator, Tonye Anaele described the reports going round that the first lady, Aisha Buhari, National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno, and his associates benefited from contracts awarded by the amnesty office were untrue and mischievous.

“We are aware of some divisible elements in the Niger Delta who are desperate for nothing else but power and decided to blackmail the National Security Adviser to the President, the First Lady and the anti-corruption crusade of President Muhammadu Buhari as a whole.

“Their motive is to unseat Professor Charles Dokunbo and take his seat but imagine this same people that want to work with the President are already castigating his wife, Aisha Buhari, who is a woman of integrity, the NSA that is zero tolerance to corruption. So imaging this people coming to government, what will they do?.

“We are aware this people formerly used the NSA office as a guard to blackmail and do all sort of things against former amnesty bosses but now that the NSA and others are aware of their selfish antics, they resorted to start blackmailing the same NSA.

“President Buhari should be wary and careful of this people because if this kind of people gets to government, we can see their desperation and what it will cost them.”

Anaele said the group had made its investigations and realized the so called contract hasn’t been mobilized or paid for.

He said, “Our investigation shows that the project they are talking about that was awarded to these companies have not even been mobilized. We are aware that it is a good programme, that anybody that want the peace and development of the Niger Delta should commend.

“What they have succeeded doing now is frustrating this programme that would have created more developments to the region.

“Therefore, this desperate people are anti-Niger Delta people, whatever they represent is not for the interest of the Niger Delta.

“To show their desperation, they colluded with staffs of the Amnesty office to the extent of getting official documents, but unfortunately for them, this contract that they have told the whole world that the amnesty office have paid for is very verifiable and have not been paid. Now, they have resulted into misleading a lot of people, poising people’s mind against the NSA.

“We in Niger Delta, the traditional rulers, chiefs, market women, youths hereby declare our total support for Professor Charles Dokunbo and once again want the president to be wary of these desperadoes as they are aware this is the time for him to appoint and re-appoint, and that is why they are doing all these things. If not for this season, they might not be saying all these fabricated lies against Professor Dokunbo.

“We wish to warn these desperadoes to be careful as waking up one to to fabricate lies and resort to blackmail against a good son of the Niger Delta, Professor Dokunbo is a big threat to the region.”
