Just the other day, in the month of December 2019 precisely, I was at work observing from my office the goings on within the environment around New Benin area of Edo State.
Suddenly I saw a pregnant lady shouting frantically and waving and running after a taxi cab pulling away that her child was inside the cab that just dropped her.
Trust Nigerians, they immediately reacted and was able to stop the cab and oh what a relief the mother and child was together again.
On further enquires why the cab man drove away without letting the mother and child alight properly, the cab man claimed he did not see her enter the cab with a child and so will not allow her come down with the child on board his cab.
So he was further questioned on how then did the boy got into his cab in the first place, he said he does not know and since he did not know when the child enter, he feels he will also not know when the child will come out
‘Wo’ like the Yoruba people will say, he was beaten blue and black and when he could no longer contain the beating he started to confess that they should please leave him that he thought he could actually run away with the boy in other for him to use the boy as in money ritual.
He confessed that he was hoping to sell the boy, because he was in dire need of money and that was the only way as he thought the mother who was pregnant will not be smart enough to alert people when she gets to her destination, but to his detriment, he was caught.
He was then taken to the Police station by some individuals with his cab which was driven by another person, then the people that had gathered broke in small groups discussing that being the yuletide season, so many things are happening and one should be careful of what we do as we go about our normal businesses, so as not be victims or fall prey to these wicked and unreasonable men.
So I am of the opinion that we should be very vigilant at all times not only because it is the Christmas period because anything can happen at anytime from different quarters and in different ways. May God protect us all. Amen.
