In any dispute, one disputing party cannot decide on the method of conflict resolution and expect the other party or parties to accept his terms hook, line and sinker without any form of fine-tuning or negotiation. Many attempts have been made for a peaceful settlement of the land dispute between the people of Abba and Ukwulu, even before Ukpo joined as a disputing party with Ukwulu against Abba. A reliable source has it that Ukpo agreed to join forces with Ukwulu on the agreement that the disputed land will be shared between both communities if the case ends in their favour.
But in the middle of the legal battle, the lead actor in Ukpo, Mr. Arthur Eze on several occasions offered Chief Pius Nweke huge amount of money for him to abandon the legal tussle he has been pursuing on behalf of his community, Abba; but Chief Pius Nweke turned down his offer on the grounds that the land in question was not his personal land but that of his community, and it will be sacrilegious to abandon his people in the middle of such a delicate dispute and accept money.
Mr. Arthur Eze was not happy with the development and vowed to get the piece of land his own way. Recall that Ukpo and Abagana had similar land dispute, and some of those who led in the land tussle from Abagana sold out, and today, Mr. Arthur Eze has annexed the land as part of Ukpo and went further to build a police station in some part of the land so as to forever scare any further opposition from the people of Abagana who might want to challenge him in future. But, I see the resurrection of that case again in the near future. Ukpo community will soon be a boiling point of crisis and conflict.
Only recently, Mr. Arthur Eze boasted in a public function that he had offered the people of Abba a whopping sum of N100million to agree to his terms of sharing the disputed land into three parts, to accommodate Ukwulu, Ukpo and Abba; but Abba rebuffed the offer as they insisted that in as much as they will prefer out of court settlement, the offer he was making to them was not comfortable by them, as a better agreement and negotiation will be their preference rather than a term that will be determined by him alone.
Angered by the temerity of the people of Abba, Mr. John Abang, the Anambra State Commissioner of Police was drafted to arrest and detain many sons and daughters of Abba on frivolous and fictitious allegations. Recall that there are lots of variable reports that the present Inspector General of Police, Mr. Adamu Mohammed was a former Commissioner of Police of Enugu State, and was in the payroll of Mr. Arthur Eze for some undisclosed businesses between both of them, no wonder his acceptance to stand with Mr. Arthur Eze against the people of Abba.
Just recently, the people of Abba raised alarm over the destruction of some of their properties and that of their prominent sons, which included that of Chief Godwin Nweke, the Chairman of Best Aluminum Group and his brother, Chief Pius Nweke, the CEO of Best Aliminum Group. The people of Abba also alleged of the plans to implant dangerous weapons in the house of their prominent sons and daughters to give the Nigerian Police justifiable reasons to continue their act of terrorism and persecution against them.
It was not surprising that the Nigerian Police having succeeded in implanting a firearm in the house of Chief Pius Nweke, swung into action to arrest him and paraded him before the press. The whole drama exposed the culpability of the Nigerian Police and a stage managed action drawn to tarnish the image of the personality of Chief Pius Nweke who has no past criminal record that would warrant such disdainful action from the Nigerian Police. This is the height of a cheap blackmail that shouldn’t be condoned or accepted in a sane society in this 21st century.
While we complain about racism and acts of injustice perpetuated against the blacks in America, Europe and Asia, it appears that the blacks are the worst enemies of the same blacks, as they will do anything irrational under the sun to intimidate and humiliate fellow blacks. The blackmail against Chief Pius Nweke is a call for sober reflection of a failed society, where an important government institution like the Police will condescend so low as to implant a firearm on a prominent citizen of the country just to humiliate and indict him.
The Nigerian Police has invariably made itself the most distrusted institution of government in the country; it has allowed itself to be ruled by greed and corruption; it has made itself a bad image of the Nigerian state; it has desecrated the altar of justice for financial inducement and greed; it has made the country a laughing stock in the comity of nations in the global system.
If this is the best stunt Mr. Arthur Eze and the hierarchy of the Nigerian Police can pull to pervert justice and encourage land grabbing and injustice in the country, then the appendage of Nigeria as a failed state cannot be far from the truth.
One pertinent fact here on earth is this, any man who encouraged an act of injustice cannot leave mother earth without having a taste of karma and nemesis. All those who are directly or indirectly involved in the act of injustice perpetuated against the people of Abba cannot go unpunished.
The day of reckoning is gradually drawing near, and every man must answer to his actions and deeds here on earth. The wrath of God cannot depart from a household that have murdered peace and justice. No man murders sleep and go on to find sleep.
