DEAR APOSTLE SULEMAN

This write-up is not aimed at questioning the authenticity of your calling to shepherd your congregation and others who have so much believe in your prophesies; and I wouldn’t want to believe in the news that have gone viral being attributed to you to have told your listeners in a vigil service that Pope Francis and some world leaders are the brains behind the coronavirus pandemic that is threatening to wipe away humanity from the surface of the earth. That the reason behind the massive casualty recorded in Italy was Pope Francis contribution of casualties from his own end to experiment the devastating efficacy of the virus. I also wouldn’t want to believe that you attributed Pope Francis as being the expected antichrist, as has been done against the last two popes – late Pope Johnpaul II and emeritus Pope Benedict XVI.

Don’t forget in a hurry how you were restless and uncomfortable when a certain lady accused you of having extra marital affairs with her and tried to blackmail you into parting with huge sum of money so she won’t spill the news of the illicit relationship. You denied the allegation, involved the Nigerian Police to teargas and arrest the lady when she came into the country from abroad; you went further to accuse the governor of Kaduna State as being the brain behind the plot to tarnish you image; you also prophesized doom for the lady and the Kaduna State governor for blackmailing you. This goes to show that you very well understand how it hurts to be accused wrongly and the implication of tarnishing the image of a public figure.

These rhetorical questions have become pertinent given that some pastors and acclaimed men of God have taken it as a duty to attack the image of the Catholic Church and her hierarchy just to gain some cheap popularity. And some blinded followers of these charlatans have believed such peddled falsehoods without making out time to verify such cheap lies.

One fact that cannot be changed is that the Catholic Church is the foundation of Christendom and any attack on her is invariably an attack of the entire Christian faithful. No doubt, the Catholic Church cannot be said to be above making mistakes given that it is administrated by imperfect human beings as we are all imperfect in this sinful world, but attributing such grievous evil of being among the brains behind the destructive coronavirus disease to the leader of the Catholic Church and by extension the leader of Christendom is a rascality taken too far and also sacrilegious. And those who understand history very well will tell you that no one has ever attacked the Catholic Church without facing the repercussion of such attack. The case of Martin Luther is a good reference point.

Dear Suleman, it won’t be out of place for you to make an official statement either confirming this story attributing to you or debunking its authenticity because a lot of damage has already been done as many has been misled and more are still being misled by this story. Keeping silent on this issue won’t be golden as it will only make us to believe that your silence means consenting to the story attributed to you. Until then, I will beg to rest my case to a later day.
