Ebola: 39 Immigrant From Sierra Leone, Congo Arrested In Lagos

About 39 foreign nationals were, yesterday, arrested by Immigration officials and the Nigeria Police Force in two hotels on Lagos Island.

 
It was revealed that they were arrested following a tip-off by some residents of the area over the fears of the deadly Ebola virus disease.

 
The area Commander, Imohimi Edgal, an Assistant Commissioner of Police, Area A Command, contacted Immigration and Health officials who stormed Benin Hotel and an unnamed guest house, situated on Atere Street and effected the arrest of the foreigners, 35 of whom are from Democratic Republic of Congo, while the rest 4 are from Sierra Leoneian.

 
A police sources said the suspects the Immigration Officials will check if the suspects are legally residing in Nigeria while the Health officials will determine their health status.
