The Federal Government will today begin the trial of Farouk Lawan’s for allegedly demanding and receiving $620, 000 bribe from the Oil magnet, Mr Femi Otedola during the last fuel subsidy probe, where the House of Representative Member, Farouk Lawan was the Chairman.
He would be prosecuted for receiving bribe, breach of trust and stealing along side an official of the National Assembly. Chief Solomon Adegboyega Awomolo SAN is ecpected to lead the Government legal team today.
The leave of Federal Capital Territory High Court had been secured by the FG to slam criminal charges against Farouk Lawan at the high court 4 in Maitama, Abuja. Meanwhile a copy of the criminal charges could not be obtained at press time, but it was gathered that all document and oral evidence needed as been assembled to facilitate prosecution.
Chief Solomon Awomolo asked the judiciary correspondents to wait till today to receive copies of the charges. Having been notified to show up in court, Farouk was said to have immediately fortified his defence team lead by Chief Mike Ozekhomes SAN.
The application for immediate bail of the suspect, Farouk Lawan was said to have been prepared in advance.
