Focused Success In Distracted World

For one who is serious about maximizing productivity for success in this present world that is full of distractions, you must deploy your mind to its fullest capacity for results and pursue deep and focused life.

The world we live is full of distractions – social media, internet, Television – that directly or indirectly constituted to our inability to maximize productivity with only few of us achieving success.

Evidently, the best way to get more meaningful work done that could result into high level of productivity is by working deeply in a state of high concentration without any form of distractions on a set single task.

We would like to examine how to engage in this type of Deep Work maximally and make it a regular practice in our lives.

Research has proven that multitasking makes people less productive. It is expected that when we focus on one task at a time, our productivity is maximized which is the basis for division of labour.

We also get more work done when we are not constantly interrupted by distractions. Back in the school days the “efikos” bookworms, usually separated themselves from others by finding quiet places to study.

Working for an extended period without unnecessarily switching from one task to another makes it easier to engage in deep and focused work because a little bit of productivity is loosed every time, we switch tasks.

The skill of consistent focused work is not that easy for it takes gradual process and constant practices to develop.

Do not expect to be able to work deeply for hours on the first start. You might only have the concentration and energy to do it for an hour or two in a day.

However, slowly, and surely, as you keep honing on the skill, you will be able to work deeply and produce massive amounts of work with results.

There are basic rules you must follow to effectively get the best.

Smart Routines and Rituals

You need to set out an approach or mix approaches that would make things easier and more automatic for your deep tasks.

Perhaps, set a time for your deep work every day, say between 5-7a.m by choosing a quiet location that will cut you from distractions completely like a monk in monastery.

-Embrace Boredom.

You need to train your ability to resist distractions at the slightest hint of boredom and be ready to embrace it for set period of focused and deep work.

Stop checking your inbox or looking at your smartphone at every opportunity you get, quit the social media for that time of deep work because it is addictive and distractive in nature.

-Engage in Systematic Idleness

From conducted research, it has been proven beyond reasonable doubt that resting your brain improves the quality of your productivity.

“When you work hard, work hard, When you are done, be done”

You must work out a way of injecting regular and substantial leisure time into your days. A trip to a NetBet shop or surfing their online platform is also a great form of engaging in systematic idleness.

. All works, no play, they say, make Jack a dull boy.

This then means that productivity is not about putting in more hours to work but getting the most out of the hours you work and the hours you don’t work.

A focused life is not for everybody. For some, it is too much of work and a hassle. Some, much easier to give in to comfort of artificial busyness like wasting away time on social media, engaging in shallow tasks and allowing temptations whenever they arise.

For one who is serious about maximizing productivity for success in this present world that is full of distractions, you must deploy your mind to its fullest capacity for results and pursue deep and focused life.
