The Death of the Governor of Kaduna State, Patrick Yakowa is confirmed by his aid. The Governor Died in an Helicopter crash at Ogbia Creek in Bayelsa State. Reuters also reported that the Former National Security Adviser, Rtd Gen. Andrew Owoye Azazi is among those believed to have died in the Naval Helicopter Crash.
The Bayelsa State Police PRO, Fidelis Odunna also confirm that there is an helocopter crash in Ogbia Creek but did not give details of casualties. Other passengers in the helicopters are aid to the dignitaries. They were on their way to the burial ceremoney of the father Oronto Douglas (Presidential Aide). The burial of Obereba Douglas was scheduled to hold on 14th Friday and 15th Saturday, 2012 in Okoroba, Bayelsa State.
The Minister of Aviation, Mrs Stela Odua is yet to confirm the number of casualties.
Andrew Owoye Azazi is a retired Army Genaral who served as the chief Security Adviser (NSA) to President Goodluck Jonathan, while Patrick Yakowa is the incubent Gorvernor of Kaduna State.
According to an eye witness, the helicopter was seen in the sky wobbling before it finally crashed, this happed at around 3:30Pm. The former chairman of Okoroba community development committe, comrade Hitler Adunion, who was at the scene said we sighted the chopper wobbling and later crash-landed, but by the time we got there it was already in flames, we try putting off the flame but to no avail, all we saw at the end was rosted bodies.
