US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton arrived Nigeria Today where she held a meeting in the Presidential Villa with President Goodluck Jonathan in continuation of her eleven nation Africa tour. She arrived the Villa at about 3.54PM. Though details of the meeting has not been disclosed to journalists, officials said the US Secretary of State is expected to hold discussions with the president on how to strengthen ties between Nigeria and the US. After meeting with the President, she is also expected to hold a meeting with the nation’s Security Chiefs, who are already seated. The visit is coming at a time when Nigeria is facing increasing insurgency by the fundamentalist sect, Boko Haram in the northern part of the country. Clinton’s visit is expected to elicit a broad-based direction of her home government on the issue.
