Former Head of State Major General Muhammadu Buhari (Rtd), said the ongoing merger talks by th e major opposition political parties will determine if he will run for president in 2015 or not
He said this on Wednesday in Abuja while answering questions from reporters after the inaugurating the Congress for Progressive Change Merger Committee.
18 Member committee is responsible for having talk with the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) of the proposed merger. The CPC Presidential candidate further explained that the CPC will first conclude discussions with the ACN after which talks would be initiated with the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP).
It is still possible that the new party will be unveil to the people of Nigeria by the middle of this year and he also said that he would not run for the office of the president again, having failed to win the election three times, but will still wait for the merger talks before he will give a definite answer.
Finally. he said the merger will make things easier for him and that they should actively support the restructuring of the country, adding its 36 state structure was not working.
