Manchester United Gun down Arsenal, as Chelsea Slips out of Top Position

Manchester United has usurped Chelsea at the top of the English premier League after defeating Arsenal. Arsenal had a date at Old Trafford with the Red devils and they came out with no points.

A lackluster display, dismal defending and toothless attack characterized the gunners play at the lunchtime kick-off on Saturday.
Arsenal, brimming from their 7-5 heroic comeback against Reading in the League Cup would look to prove the odds wrong. Arsenal has won only one of the last ten encounters at Old Trafford.

Manchester United, basking from their triumph at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League needed a win to go tops on the log at least for 2 hours before Chelsea take on Swansea, lost a mid-week League Cup game 5-4 to Chelsea.
United took the game to the visitors and deservedly got a goal within 2 minutes. Robin Van Persie capitalized on a bad clearance from Arsenal captain to power home. The former arsenal captain celebrated less in respect of the club he had served for 8 years.
Rooney missed a penalty to put United ahead after Cazorla handled the ball in the box. 6 of the last 10 penalties given at Old Trafford between these two sides have been missed.
Arsenal’s second half insurgence was thwarted as Jack Wilshere got his second booking of the match after Evra had put United further ahead. United missed a lot of chances to punish the gunners but Vito Mannone kept them at bay. Cazorla fired in a consolation for Arsenal but it was too late to salvage a point for them.
A 2-1 win sends Manchester United to the top of table after Chelsea was held to a 1-1 draw away to Swansea. They lead in the first thanks to Nigerian Victor Moses but Swansea’s Pablo Hernandez scored a late equalizer to throw spanner in Chelsea’s works.
In other games, Manchester City were held by Westham United at Upton park as Tottenham lost 0-1 at White Hart Lane to Wigan, while Fulham and Everton shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw at Craven Cottage. Sunderland lost 0-1 at home to Aston Villa as Norwich beat stoke by the same margin.
