Following the onslaught by the military troops, many members of the Boko Haram sect are begining to surrender voluntarily. Some of them even submitted themselves and their weapons to the leadership of the military troops in Konduga during a further campaign at the weekend.
The Defence Headquarters has tweeted that: “as the heat on the terrorists continues, five terrorists surrendered on Saturday (September 20, 2014) with all their weapons to troops at Konduga, pleading for mercy.”
According to DHQ, other captured terrorists who refused to surrender have also been given useful information on the subsequent plans of the group in an apparent offer to amso cooperate.
Fews day back, there have been several attampts by terrorists to gain entry into Konduga which the Nigeria troops have continued to foil.
It was gathered, according to DHQ statement that the terrorist, is aimed at recovering all the bodies of their prominent fighters who died in previous encounters in the area.
The DHQ also explained that its troops had recovered more weapons during mop-up operations while some of the terrorists’ vehicles had been destroyed.
