Nigerian Navy inaugrates first locally-built warship, promise second one in 18 months

President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday inaugrated the first locally-built warship by the Nigerian Navy,

NNS Andoni to mark the 56th anniversary of the Nigerian Navy. He recognised the importance of technology in bringing about change in our society. He said that there can not be transformation without a technological revolution in the nation,adding that it is his belief that in the next 15 to 20 years, we should be thinking about starting a project that will take Nigerians into the air. On his own, the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ola Ibrahim described the building of the warship as a landmark for the Nigerian Navy,promising that the second will be inaugrated in 18 months time. The Navy boss said that the building of the ship complied with the International Maritime Organization’s standard and is a result of diversified research. He added that it is the Navy’s contribution to president Jonathan’s transformation agenda.
