Nigerian University Staff Games Start In Uniben



The Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, Prof. Osayuki Oshodin, has declared open the 11th edition of the Nigerian University Staff Sports Association Games open, saying the event will seal the existing relationship among universities in the country.

 
The VC who was represented by the Deputy Vice chancellor Academics, Prof (Mrs) Obehin Okojie, said the need for government at all levels to support sports in tertiary institutions, so that Nigeria will be able to groom young talented sports men and women that will represent the country in international competitions.

 
According to him, that…

“It is a cocktail of emotion for me and the University as we host this games, it is out of our desire for the promotion of sports in Nigerian Universities and Nigeria in general which is a symbol of unity that made us agree to host this games because we want sports to grow in Nigeria our fatherland.



 
“The peculiarity of this games is that the athletes are adults, some of them are also parents so efforts should be more on the friendship, sharing of ideas so that we can build relationship that will last for long, which will be of huge benefit to our country” he stated.

All 27 Universities will participates in the games which kick off yesterday and will end on the 9th of August, 2014.
