Oshiomhole, ACN: Edo people renew social contract

  Given the votes released by INEC from 18 local governments in Edo State, Mr. Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole, governorship candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and incumbent has cruised to a landslide victory. He garnered 477,478 votes to defeat his closest rival, Maj. Gen. Charls Airhiavbere (ret) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who garnered 144,255 votes. The keenly contested election that took tension to a dizzying height was seen in different quaters as a final proof of the political relevance of Chief Tony Anenih, former PDP chair, board of trustees. Oshiomhole who was declared winner by INECS’s returning officer Prof. Osayuki Oshodi at 7:40hrs, sunday 15/07/12 thanked the Edo people through one of his aids for “decisively rejecting those who lie and kill for the sake of power”.
