The Murder case against the 21-year-old Redeemers University Student, Tolani Ajayi who killed his 60-year-old lawyer father, Charles Ajayi, on July 21st, 2014 at the Redemption camp, came up for hearing yesterday August 5th at an Ogun State Magistrate Court in Owode-Egba.
The Magistrate, Bolaji Ojikutu, after hearing the charges against Tolani Ajayi ordered that he be remanded in Prison until when the case will be heard again in October 10. According to court sources, the case file will be sent to the Department of Public Prosecution for advice.
Hmm, sadly Tolani Ajayi has no legal representative in court yesterday and so could not enter any plea..
The charge against Tolani read in part:
“That you, Tola Ajayi, on 21 July, 2014, at about 4am at Canaan-Land Street, RCCG Camp, Mowe in the Owode Egba Magistrate Court District did unlawfully kill one Charles Ajayi, aged 60, by matcheting him with knife and cutlass and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 316 and punishable under section 319(1) of the criminal code, laws of Ogun State of Nigeria. 2006.”
Tolani who has actually expressed regret over the unfortunate incident, said was anger that made him carry out the abominable act. He also said an argument with his father degenerated into a physical attack first from his father before he now attacked his father with a kitchen knife and machete.
