Schools May Resume This Month – Federal Government

With the Ebola battle going well, it was learnt yesterday that schools may reopen as from the middle of this month, September.

The Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu broke the news to the State House newsmen at the end of the Federal Executive Council Meeting (FEC) in Abuja, yesterday.

At the briefing were the Minister of Information, Labaran Maku, Transport, Umar Idri, National Planning, Abubakar Suleiman.

Last month the Federal Government announced October 13th as new resumption date for all schools in the country.

Prof. Onyebuchi said the expert opinion now, with the strong containment effort of the government, is that schools can open before October 13.

He said the new resumption date will be announced by the Minister of Education, after meeting with Commissioners of Education and other stakeholders, who were part of those that fixed October 13 date.
