The 36 states governors under the umbrella of Nigeria Governors’ Furum, yesterday contradict the allegations by Elder Statesman and a prominent Ijaw Leader, Chief E.K. Clark that they are had formed an opposition against President Ebele Goodluck Jonathan led Government.
The Governors said they were not fighting the President, and they also stress that as an elder, they were not prepared to join issues with the former commissioner for information
Adressing Journalist at the end of the meeting, in River State Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja, the Chairman of Governors’ Forum, Rotimi Amaechi, tongue lashed the FG over its attitute towards the management of excess crude account. This acttually came just as the governors vowed not to further accept adjournments of the case pending at the supreme court.
The Chairman was ask to react to Chief E.K Clark’s allegation of forming an opposition to the federal government, and whether they are fighting the President, Rotimi Amaechi said; No, Chief Clark is an elder statesman, we are not going to respond to him.
Chief Edwin clark last week thursday alleged that the governors had become more dictatorial than the former Millitary Governors and that they are using the forum as an opposition party to President Jonathan led government. That the Federal Government had made several moves to resolve the issues of excess crude account out of court but all effort has prove abortive because the governors had repeatedly describe the action of the Federal Government on the account as illegal.
At the end of the first of the year, the Governors declared their confidence in the chairman and endorsed his leadership as head of the Forum.
