Every girl has the right to be beautiful and indeed every girl is beautiful. Only, she has to feel it. Contrary to what people believe, beauty is nothing but a tiny glow of feeling that ignites on the inside and radiates outside as good looks.
A girl is only as beautiful as she feels. A beautiful girl who feels ugly will dress, talk, walk and act ugly. Before long, ugliness will catch up with her and overshadow her good looks while a not-too-beautiful girl who carries herself beautifully appears attractive. This explains why we sometimes look at a person and conclude that they are beautiful yet cannot make out what really makes them beautiful.
Feeling ugly has just as ugly fall-outs as the look itself. It can translate into self hatred. Once, I overheard a girl say “I hate myself for been so ugly” and when I chanced a look at her, she was so damn wrong. It can give you a terrible complex and make you willingly take shit from others, like a toilet would. Mary J. Blige said she let her ex-boyfriend treat her how he wanted because she felt she looked like a camel and didn’t even deserve him. So you see, you aren’t the only one who feels ugly, even stars feel that way sometimes.
The ugly feeling stultifies your potentials by robbing you of the confidence you need to unleash all that’s in you. If you feel ugly, you can’t be a runway model, a broadcaster, a singer or an actress, even if that has always been your dream. It also plunges you into melancholy. For years, I used to feel awful because I felt ugly. I can’t exactly say I have conquered this feeling but writing about it now, brings me even closer.
The real you is not that person you see when you look in the mirror, it is the way you feel when you think about you. You will only see what your eyes want you to see in a mirror and what your eyes would want you to see is determined by what your mind feels about that thing you are looking at. Its a mind thingy. It’s all in your mind. If in your mind, you feel ugly, your mind transmits that message to your eyes and ugly is what your eyes will see looking at your reflection.
Tell your reflection that she is beautiful, disregarding what your eyes tell you. If you say it long enough, even your mind would start to believe it. Sing along to Christina Aguilera’s ‘I am beautiful’ track. Stay around people who make you feel beautiful and act beautiful. You can get rid of this disastrous feeling.
For want and lack of a better conclusion, beauty is a feeling, feel it on the inside, glow on the outside and that guy who has been treating you like rotten trash will become a gentleman overnight. Release yourself to this feeling and you might just be our next MBGN, to say the least.
